I am a writer trained in anthropology and the history of science at Columbia University, where I received my PhD in 2023. I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Society and Genetics at UCLA. Previously, I was the Lindt Dissertation Fellow at Columbia. I write about the political and cultural history of science and medicine. My work specializes in the history of the mind and brain sciences from the twentieth century to the present.

My dissertation and first book project examine the development of neural engineering and its relation to liberal politics over the twentieth century. I direct the Material Intelligence as Historical Problem project at UCLA. My work has been funded by organizations including the Livescu Foundation, the NSF, the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the Horowitz Foundation, the Chateaubriand Fellowship, the Society for Psychological Anthropology, the Council for European Studies, and the Mellon Foundation.
